This plotter is just great. I used it mostly with fountains pens to be cost effective and with the tilted head it works perfectly. I tried it with ball pens too and it's flawless, even at high speed ! It is actually so fast my paper gives up before the plotter. I made all the invitation for my wedding with it, and everyone thought it was hand written and drawn by hand! I vectorize my writing I will let you judge for the results.
The fact it can also use a laser head is also incredibly exciting and I sure hope I will be able to test that soon. CMYK pictures are also next on my list. This system is a great investment to dive in the art and not the tech. It will grow with you and your imagination and work is the only limiting factor :)
I have owned my A3 iDraw plotter for over a year, and it has never malfunctioned. It operates very quickly, with minimal wobble thanks to its metal double-sided mount. I have used it with pens, markers, and brushes, and even for scraping ceramic paint off tiles before firing them. It is a durable, precise, and solid machine.
The metal base plate is a huge time-saver thanks to its magnets and alignment grid.
Additionally, for over a year of use, I haven’t needed to clean or service it at all, despite operating it in a fairly dusty and “cat-filled” environment :)
Le prix des traceurs est un facteur essentiel à prendre en compte pour votre décision d’achat. Ne faites pas comme moi : j’avais commencé avec un petit traceur A4 bas de gamme (120 $, en pièces détachées à monter soi‑même). Avec cette machine, je ne pouvais à peine tracer des formats A5 alors qu’elle était censée gérer du A4. J’avais sans cesse des problèmes de calage, la précision laissait à désirer, et trop légère, elle bougeait au moindre mouvement. De plus, elle ne prenait pas en charge les fichiers SVG directement : il fallait passer par un encodage en G-code, un vrai parcours du combattant pour réaliser un dessin. Le résultat était le plus souvent frustrant.
Puis j’ai découvert l’iDraw H A3. Je me suis retrouvé face à une machine totalement différente, bien plus qu’un simple plotter : elle était capable de transformer mes photographies et mes dessins en tracés physiques, précis et vivants. J’étais comme propulsé dans une nouvelle dimension créative. C’était le début d’un chemin où le numérique, la mécanique et l’expérimentation artistique se rejoignent pour former un véritable terrain de jeu et d’exploration.
Cette expérience m’a montré que l’investissement dans une machine de qualité comme l’iDraw H A3 est essentiel. Elle permet non seulement de travailler avec précision et sur de grands formats, mais surtout d’avoir la liberté de se concentrer sur la création et l’exploration artistique, plutôt que sur les problèmes mécaniques. Un investissement qui peut sembler élevé au départ, mais qui se traduit par un gain énorme de temps, de sérénité et de plaisir créatif.
All received pretty well and easy!
I first used the wrong version of Inkscape which resulted in some bugs in the machine movements.. but once I got the right one, it rolled as hell.
I use this machine to bring my generative art into the real world. Working with real ink, paint and pens give an other dimension to creation that is otherwise limited to screens.
When I decided to buy it I wasn't really sure what to expect initally,
I'm always highly skeptical, as I wasn't really sure if it would be clunky or poor in precision. My assumption was worst case scenario I could take it apart, trouble shoot and reverse engineer if issues would arrive.
But it works really well, also a good thing to know is that you are not stuck to inkscape, the controler board can be talked with in gcodes over a serial connnection. Some python example code to get you started (https://github.com/MOVzeroOne/python_controler_idraw)
Haven't had any issues while using it and it works really well, waayy beyond what I initially expected of it.
If I ever need another one, I would definitely buy it again.
